Every person has God-given skills that are uniquely theirs and which can benefit others. Service is a wonderful and generous gift for our stay on earth. Simply put, our reason for living is to love God and to love others.

It's true: volunteers are the heart and the soul of the YMCA organization, and the West Cook YMCA in Oak Park is no different. Our volunteers enable the YMCA to offer more and better programs and services while keeping our fees to a minimum.

The benefits of volunteering include the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and widen your circle of friends. The YMCA provides incentives to encourage volunteers to join our team. In addition to the warm feeling that comes from helping others, the IRS allows personal income tax deductions for some activities if they are incurred in offering volunteer services.

1. You are encouraged to join the YMCA, although this is not a requirement.

2. Complete a Volunteer Application Form.

3. You will be contacted by our staff for an interview to discuss your skills and interests.

4. Complete the training required for your position.

5. Start volunteering!
